Jeddah is one of the Makkah Province cities about 80km form Makkah and is a very important port in the red sea. It is the principal gateway to Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, and to Medina, the second holiest place. It is one of the important commercial cities in KSA and was established by fishermen some 3000 years ago. According to eastern folk the tomb of Eve, considered to be the grandmother of humanity, is located in Jeddah. Downtown Jeddah is located in the center of present Jeddah and the historic Jeddah includes a number of monuments and heritage buildings of archeological interest such as the Old Jeddah Wall and its historical courtyards. There are a number of historic mosques and markets (souks) can also be found. The estimated population of Jeddah in 2010 was 3,456,259.
